Jewelry Boxes: Can Beauty Be Practical?

If you have any sizing appeal of jewelry, having some sort of jewellery box is a must. Jewelry items are usually small and can easy get lost otherwise, and losing 1 earring of a pair can make it unusable. A jewelry box can keep all your jewelry in one place, free of dust, and hopefully, free of tangles. Two main factors will guide your decision in choosing a jewellery box: functionality and appearance. Ideally, you will find a box that rates high in both.

For functionality, start by assessing your collection. What do you have a lot of? Perhaps you wear lots of different rings, but barely ever wear necklaces. Maybe you wear a lot of big, chunky bracelets, or have an extensive earring collection. If you do have lots of earrings, an earring screen might be a good idea. Here, earrings hang on the organizer, much like they would in a store. This can be helpful for holding earrings in pairs, and for keeping dangling earrings untangled. There are specific boxes for holding watches, rings, and assort boxes or compartments in larger boxes that have space for necklaces to lay or hang free of knotting. Some boxes are made of special material that will keep certain types of jewelry clean, or make it easy to clean them, like boxes that keep silver jewelry from tarnishing. If you travel a lot, look for a travel jewelry pouch, a hanging jewelry bag, or even a mini suitcase just for jewelry. For men who have a small collection of jewelry, perhaps a couple of watches, a pair of two of cufflinks and maybe a ring or two, a dresser valet can do the job quite nicely and may as well give them a place to dump that spare pocket change or keep their glasses in one place.

For appearing, look around your house and specifically, your bedroom or whatever room your jewelry box will be in. With the myriad of jewelry boxes available, you are sure to find one that matches your décor and suits your jewelry collection. If you have a large collection, you might want to look into a jewellery armoire. They come in many styles, from antique (or designed to look like it) to an armoire in a modern cylindrical shape where the doorway is a small mirror. For littler collections, there ar cases in acrylic, leather, and all kinds of wood.
